Vitamin B6 (a.k.a. Pyridoxine, Pyridoxal-5-phosphate)
Along with vitamin C, B6 is necessary for the absorption and metabolism of amino acids and is necessary in proportion to the amount of protein and/or amino acids consumed. Healthy sources include whole grains, cereals, avocados, green beans, spinach and bananas. Plenty of pyridoxine allows you to enjoy the benefits of all the amino acids, as well as aiding in the formation of red blood cells, which are vital to the transport of oxygen to the tissues of the body. If you are treating an illness which responds to pyridoxine, e.g. the carpal tunnel syndrome, use the activated form of pyridoxine: pyridoxal-5-phosphate. It costs more, but it gets the job done.
