Vitamin B2 (a.k.a. Riboflavin)
B2 is a coenzyme which serves as a catalyst in the metabolism of fats and proteins, as well as carbohydrates. It helps maintain healthy skin and mucous membranes. Sources include dark green vegetables, whole grain and mushrooms. A plentiful supply of B2 results in soft, youthful skin, particularly around the nose and mouth. Cracking (cheilosis) at the corners of the mouth is characteristic of B2 deficiency.
