Mysterious Itching

For two years running, I have experienced intense almost violent itching in and around my home, from August until November. After two years I know it is seasonal, but cannot identify the cause. Nothing can be seen. Extensive cleaning and exterminating have had no effect whatsoever. Any clues before next season will be sincerely appreciated.

Perhaps a MAST test will reveal what you are allergic to. This is a simple blood test. Ask your doctor. The fact that the allergy does not respond to extensive thorough cleaning suggests the possibility of a chemical sensitivity. Some people react to chemicals in carpet and it may take years for the chemical (usually formaldehyde I think) to completely sublimate out of the carpet. I am not sure which part of the world you live in. If ventilation is less from August to November, this could explain the problem.
