Toxoplasmosis and pregnancy

I have found out that I have a recent infection of toxoplasmosis. I am 35 years old and 8 weeks pregnant with my first child and the doctor is recommending antibiotics for the duration of the pregnancy. Are there natural alternatives to ridding the body of this parasite without the use of antibiotics?

There are surely natural treatments for parasites. However, they may not act as fast as pharmaceutical treatment. Given the dangers of toxoplasmosis to your fetus, balancing the risks and benefits of pharmaceutical treatment may come out on the side of following your doctor's advice. If you are symptomatic of toxoplasmosis yourself, that means your immune system is damaged - because normally a healthy adult will suppress the infection and develop a kind of immunity to it, although usually remaining a carrier. If this is the case, you should think about repair of your immune system as well as protection of your fetus, although this may have to wait until after delivery of your baby depending on what the problem is. There is a lot written on this website about this subject, but maybe not enough room here to discuss it. I suggest you use "Search This Site" in the upper left above and enter words like "mercury toxicity," "gut wall infection," "leaky gut," etc.
