Dietary detox

38 female - complete hysterectomy in 2001. Suspected PCOS but never diagnosed. Prior to surgery, testosterone levels were off the charts. Now obese. Experiencing insulin resistance / hypometabolism. I want to detoxify but I am very reluctant to take anything from a bottle at this point. I am addicted to carbs/sugar. I simply want a monthly diet that I can follow that will allow me to detoxify via food. Can you recommend a good book that gives one a month of meals that will satisfy nutritional requirements but will ease the trauma of withdrawls from sugar/carbs? I understand this change will be painful but I have to sell my family on the concept. I am most interested in a book that will tell me precisely what to buy at the supermarket so I can get in and get out with my shopping list and nothing else. I do not take hormones, no pills. Feeling rather depressed and food is no longer pleasurable. I don't want to take pills for depression. I think I am "hormonally challenged."

The Raw Food Gourmet by Gabrielle Chavez may be what you are looking for. If you are as addicted as you say to carbs, you may have what is commonly called the "yeast syndrome." If that is the case, it may be next to impossible to handle this by diet alone. I have an article titled "Yeast Syndrome" you can find by clicking Library Articles to the left and scrolling to the "Y"s. Also, read this: www.medical-library.net/gut_wall/ and see if any of that information relates to you.
