Yeast - metal toxicity, developmental delay

My question to you is two fold and I am seeking your recommendations / suggestions for myself and my two year old son. I am a 33 year old female, who was seeing a dietician over two years ago. I was given her name by the recommendation of a friend. My primary purpose for seeking her out was weight loss. At the first visit she took a sample of blood from my finger and did dark field microscopy. The two things she stated was that (1) I had a lot of yeast in my blood and also, many, many free radicals. Based on what she found she recommended some foods, I believe many were gluten free and she also recommended some pills and a powder drink, forgive me, I can not remember exactly what they were as this was over two years ago. I started her recommended routine. Much to my surprise, just after my first visit with her I discovered I was pregnant. I had severe morning sickness and stopped the diet and the supplements, etc. that she recommended. Well two years have passed. I have a two year old boy. I started surfing the net and stumbled upon your website. My son is currently speech delayed. They are evaluating him for a possible Pervasive Developmental Disorder. In doing the limited reseach I have done thus far on autism, etc. some believe that toxic chemicals are possibly one variable contributing to this disorder. To date, my son has only been diagnosed with a "speech delay," but there are some other issues going on. What is your opinion on the possibility of the correlation between my yeast overgrowth, metal toxiticy from mercury in fillings (I have five)and the possible diagnosis of PDD in my son. What would be a good starting point for both of us. Hair analysis? etc. And how do I find out if I have a "leaky" gut? I hahve been on numerous antibiotics in my life also.

You probably know that this is an area of controversy in medicine, but you have asked me for my opinion and so I will give it. Based on what I have seen in my practice, and based on what I have heard from other doctors and from parents of affected children, the relationship between autism and otherwise unexplainable developmental problems in children is very strong. The usual source of mercury in young children is Thimerasol which is a mercury based preservative in vaccines. In most states parents have the option to forego vaccination of their children by simply writing a letter of refusal. and this without any consequences such as being barred from school attendance. If a child has already gone through vaccination and has autism/ADD, etc. then if I were in that place vis-a-vis my child, I would seek out a doctor versed in the problem to do a "challenge" test. (hair analysis is not so valuable). A challenge test involves giving a chelating agent and measuring the metals (including mercury, lead, and several other) which come out in the urine. The most convenient and effective treatment now used in such cases is the DMPS patch. I can't tell you how important it is to find the right doctor. You must avoid what I call the "Dean Edel doctors," that is the ones who blindly follow the party line that mercury and vaccines are no problem without considering the clinical evidence we now have at hand.. You should be able to find such a doc by using the Find A Doctor function of this website (yellow tab above).
