Metformin (Glucophage) and diabetes

Is Metformin one of the safer types of prescription medications? (I have a formula with Metformin combined with the Metagenics Fenugreek Plus, alpha lipoic and chromium and the powdered supplement Glycemic powder for sugar imbalance.) Are you allowed to review blood tests if I send these to you and how much is this? I would like to get off Metformin in a short time because I feel it may be better to use supplements. Do you recommend supplements in place of Metagenics that are a little less expensive, and safe purchasing links. I have a history of low blood sugar before, underweight before, and hypothyroidistm. I have had elevated sugar levels at times. It seems to be helping what I am taking, and it has lowered my blood sugar to about 134-245 approximately. Do you disapprove of extreme rigid diets? I had to politely tell my doctor that I cannot have these extreme diets of not eating fibers, etc. I removed most of the white sugar, and limited some of the refined carbs. If you know of a few other doctors in southern California, I would appreciate the information.

As drugs go, Glucophage (Metformin) in a good one. If you have to take a medication for diabetes, this is the one to take. The formula you mentioned sounds promising. You might try buying each ingredient separately, but you will probably end up paying more. Rigidity of diet can be necessary in very brittle diabetics. You have to do what you have to do to control blood sugar. As far as doctors in southern Cal go, click on Find a Doctor above. If no one is close enough to you, use the Doctor Referral Service. We have many doctors on out list who are not listed on the site.
