ovo-lacto diet and fatigue

I am a twenty-seven year old female who has been on an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet for three years. I had been gradually cutting out specific meat and fish varieties since I was a teenager. I take a variety of vitamin supplements, including a multivitamin, a calcium-magnesium tablet, vitamin C, a vitamin B complex, and iron. I take the iron and vitamin B together to help facilitate absorbtion and stagger the remaining supplements. I always take my supplements with food and I drink between three and four litres of water a day. My diet consists of large quantities of vegetables, beans, and carbohydrates (especially pasta, rice, and muli-grain breads), and smaller amounts of tofu, eggs, and cheese. I am often tired even though I get adequate amounts of sleep (eight or more hours a night). I also have dark circles under my eyes that I can not get rid of. I believe the fatigue to be diet related and wonder what I should be eating more or less of.

Probably less to do with what you eat than how you digest it. Do you having bloating? And do you have dental fillings?

In response to your questions, I have both (bloating and fillings). How are these connected? Perhaps, although I'm not sure, if this is relevant, I should also let you know that I quit smoking (I was a pack a day since I was a teenager) over two months ago. The fatigue I've been experiencing did not improve after I quit and there has been no marked increase in my energy level since I kicked the habit.

Dental amalgam yields mercury toxicity, regardless of what dentists say about it. Mercury facilitates leaky gut syndrome which leads to gut wall infection which never goes away until properly treated. This causes bloating (due to dysbiosis). Good thing you quit smoking. May have saved you from a short life, but maybe a little irrelevant to the immediate situation. The dark circles under the eyes can be simply a genetic trait but much more often reflect extreme toxicity, certainly consistent with the syndrome I have suggested to you.
