I have in the last two months experienced persistent itching on my chest. Any notions as to what may be causing it?

Itching reflects tissue irritation and/or breakdown. The source of tissue irritation can be external or internal. If external, it is called contact dermatitis and can represent exposure to some natural or synthetic material one is allergic to, or to a particular soap, or anything which comes into the contact with the skin. If internal it can be from infection, either at the site or from some other location in the body. It can also come from systemic toxicity, most commonly colon toxicity. If this is the case it will be accompanied by foul breath.
