Sugar/Carb Detox

I am detoxing from sugar and carbohydrates. My blood sugar gets real low if I don't get enough protein. On a diet which elimintates sugar/carbs, where do you get the B vitamins from if you don't eat breads? And what else has protein besides meat (which I'm avoiding), and beans?

The answers are: (1) veggies and (2) veggies. Veggies are loaded with vitamins and contain sufficient protein and amino acids to sustain good health. It shows the power of advertising that you would think of bread as the main source of B vitamins. I remember the TV commercials for Wonder Bread when I was a kid. They stripped out all the nutrients from grain, made it into white flour, then added back small amounts of eight vitamins and called it "enriched." White bread is really not bread in the traditional sense, in fact you have to wonder if it is bread at all. Add it to a little water and you have a kind of worthless white paste. Oddly enough, Americans think no meal is complete without this worthless slice of paste which is instantly converted to simple sugar in the stomach which then leaches vitamins and minerals from the body to be metabolized. "Empty calories" we call such foods.

Thanks. I guess I didn't word that correctly, I'm not avoiding beans, but meat.

Then no problem. Consider beans to be the equivalent of meat in protein content, and much healthier. That includes tofu and other forms of soy.
