Angioplasty

Dr. KennedyAngioplasty is a procedure with a balloon-tipped catheter to enlarge a narrowing in a coronary artery. The vessel wall is stretched creating a kind of tubular aneurysm into which a plastic mesh-shaped device is inserted designed to keep the artificial aneurysm open. Agioplasty frequently fails and is followed by “bypass surgery.”
