Chronic relapsing Pancreatitis

Patient has chronic relapsing pancreatitis.
Pancres doesn't make amylase. Patient takes an enzym amylase and lipase calles "Pancreatine".
Lipase levels in the blood are 1000 units which sometimes will rise to 3000-6000 when having an attack.

The couse of Pancreatitis is not known: no alcohol, no galstones and no auto-immune illness or allergy.
Most probable couse is taking medication and peritoneal dialyse for a long time.
Medication includes: Cyclosporine, Immuran (Azathioprine), Prednisolon (10 mg/day), Ascal, Lasix (Renitec), Alopurnol, Selokeen (Metoprolotartrate 100 mg) and Etalpha.

The pancras is chronically inflamed, because of this the pancreas will swell form time to time.
When it swells it will block off the duodenum.
Does anyone have a treatment or a diet to improve the quality of patients life?

You present a very difficult case, one that should not be commented on by a doctor unless thoroughly and personally evaluated. In general, I will say this: when polypharmacy does not work, less drugs is usually the direction one need to go. If you do not have a doctor who will guide you in this direction, use the Find A Doctor function, above left.
