Calcium supplements

I need some info on calcium supplements. I have been diagnosed as pre-osteoporotic and given FosaMax along with suggested 1500 Calcium intake. In one of your articles you mentioned that Calcium Carbonate is not good as it can cause kidney and other related problems. What kind of calcium should I be taking? What about the Fosamax? I haven't been able to find anything out about the "good" or "bad" side of this drug - is it necessary and will it hurt or harm?

The critical thing about building bone is to maintain alkalinity of the extravascular space. Testing of the saliva with pH paper is the best way to keep tabs on that. Unless alkalinity is consistently present, nothing you do will build bone. As to calcium, calcium citrate or orotate are good forms of chelated calcium. As to FosaMax, my question is why take a drug when we can do it the way nature does it? With the availability of orthomolecular human hormones testosterone, progesterone, and human growth hormone, all of which have an osteotrophic effect, why bother with a drug?
