Kawasaki disease

My son at the age of 10 had Kawasaki disease. The danger of Kawasaki exhibited in older patients is that of developing too many platelets in the blood causing potentially clotting in the heart chambers. This was my son's case, symptoms in general were right in articles on this website but there are more acute symptoms such as an intense itch underneath the skin in the hands and feet. We did not see any swelling but there were lines forming on the finger nails; and after treatment using coumadin a peeling over the entire body. It is a disease that must be treated promptly especially in older patients (9-17) or the results can be fatal.
