adrenal fatigue resistance to sleep

I've read the following about adrenal fatigue from numerous sources: []. I've had *severe,* chronic, debilitating sleep problems my entire life. I remember not being able to sleep as early as age 3 in daycare, and I believe the answer to the following question could dramatically help me: why do those with adrenal fatigue resist going to bed/sleep around 9-10 PM even when they feel sleepy at this time? I understand that those with adrenal fatigue would resist sleep/bed at a later time due to the "second wind," but why resist sleep/bed when actually sleepy? I, myself, resist sleep/bed at this time and am so desperate to do whatever I can to actually sleep during this time (over the years, I have tried EVERYTHING). I feel that if I understand why I'm resisting sleep/bed then I will be better able to tackle the problem. In addition to answering why people with adrenal fatigue resist bed around 9-10 PM even when sleepy, any additional insight or suggestions you have as far as how to combat this would be greatly appreciated.

Adrenal fatigue happens in the first place in people who drive themselves ("Type As") putting stress upon stress until the adrenals can no longer respond properly, usually using coffee to press forward and "perform." This finally dysregulates the flux of adrenal hormones through the day which hits a low around 10 PM. When you are this kind of personality, and you realize if you press through this 10 PM sleepiness then there will be a couple more hours of "performance" available, it is too much to resist. You can choose to lie down and weather the fatigue storm until Leno or Letterman are on, or until you are able to go to your computer and write emails. You can believe that I know what I'm talkin' about.
