detoxing mercury

I am 58 y/o female, a student of nutrition consulting, given a hair analysis test in my nutrition class. I received the results approx 2 months ago which showed a test value for mercury @ .94. Also calcium was very high and Magnesium at 87 and selenium and vanadium were low. I have since been using Chelorex as a detox/chelating method, taking 13 pills 2xdaily. I am now experiencing pain in my muscles, joints, brain fog, malaise, depression. I contacted a MD w/ the Chelorex company and he told me to take quercitin and lessen the dose. He also stated that my mercury toxicity was not that high. But I feel that any mercury in my body is too much. I have halved the dosage and taken numerous supplements and have eaten healthy and organic for 7 years. But I am still feeling the above symptoms. I have since quite the Chelorex program but still want to eliminate the mercury out of my body. Should I do a DMPS chelating program? Are there any practioners that do this procedure in Santa Cruz/Monterey area? I have had all my silver almagams removed w/i the last 5 yrs.

I can't tell you what you should or should not do as you are not my patient. I can make some general comments however. First, I do not trust hair analyses - too many variables. I use only the DMPS Challenge Test and only after all metals have been removed, including "gold." I do this only when a person has symptoms attributable to heavy metal overload and when other explanations have been exhausted. Chelating out heavy metals too fast will cause symptoms and the dose of chelator must be regulated to prevent this. I do not know anyone in your area who I know to be practiced with metal removal. I can see you if you come to Santa Rosa, or you can order a list from Find A Doctor" (yellow tab above) and then call around.
