I am 59 years old. Today I broke an 11 day fast. It was 10 water days and one orange juice and water day. I am now eatting fruit for ten days excepting Sundays when I always water fast. My question at this time has to with salt and to a lesser extent iodine. I understand that the salinity of blood is approximately the same as that of seawater. At the same time most of what I read suggests that sodium cholride is an inorganic chemical that the body cannot use any more than gravel. Perhaps I am misunderstanding this or reading the wrong people. So the question is if one cuts out all sodium choride will the blood get enough salt?

I am not sure it would be possible to cut out all sodium chloride as it is contained in the soil, thus in all plant life, and therefore in all animal derived foods. What's more NaCl is a nutrient for the adrenal glands and without it you would become hypoadrenal. The one place where extra salt should not be added to food is in the case of high blood pressure. While NaCl does not cause hypertension, once you are hypertensive table salt makes it worse.
