A couple of months ago, I noticed a bump on each of my eyelids. On my left eye it remained very small, but on my right eye it decided to grow. The location is right behind the eyelashed on the skin. It is a round hard mountain so to speak as I call it. I recently visted an eye doctor for glasses. When she examined me she mentioned what it was but by the time I got home I had forgotten the term. She also told me to put hot compresses on it and rub it down. She also checked inside my eye to see if this is part of my eye from inside. Its only a growth from the outer skin of my eyelids. Can you put some more input on this little problem. I do not feel it what so ever, there is no pain also. It is just unsightly when you look in the mirror to have it sticking out like that. Can you help me please?

Does the word "hordeolum" (or "sty") ring a bell? Another possibility is a "chalazion."
