fibromyalgia/muscle wasting

I am a 24 yr.old female. My mother and I were diagnosed in 1991 with CFIDS and fibromyalgia. My mother, who has always been a small woman, now weighs in at 85 pounds and is a walking, talking skeleton. We have tried everything known to man to get weight back on her, nothing is working.I fear she will die. My question is: is fibromyalgia a muscle wasting disease and if so is there anything we can do.

Fibromyalgia is a mysterious disease in terms of cause and origin. Ultimately it is a disease of failure to produce energy. Muscle wasting can be a part of the picture in extreme cases and bear in mind I am not confirming or refuting a diagnosis of a person I do not know and have not evaluated. In wasting there is almost always a digestive component. Probably the best move you could make at this time would be to find a doctor who knows a lot about digestion and treating digestive disorders. It sounds like your mother may be starving for nutrition because she is (may be) unable to digest and assimilate her food.
