Wilson's Protocol

My doctor doesnít believe in Wilsonís Syndrome, but he is starting me on Cytomel / T3 - NON-time-release - in 5 microgram increments nonetheless (he uses it in his practice, apparently for some low metabolism patients). How important is it, in being treated for Wilsonís Syndrome, to have a doctor that really believes in the condition, as outlined by Wilson?

I have come to the conclusion that true Wilson's (Reverse T3 Dominance) does exist, but is very rare. The only way to diagnose it is with Free T3 and Reverse T3. Wilson himself recognizes this, but treats many people who do not have the condition as if they did as he does not know another way to conceptualize hypometabolism which is an epidemic condition in America. I believe generalized toxicity, including heavy metal toxicity and chronic infections (usually hidden), to be the major cause of hypometabolism and treat my patients accordingly. If you are going to be treated for Wilson's you do need to find a doctor who believes in it. If you choose detoxification, generally speaking naturopaths do a better job there except for (1) metal toxicity which usually involves getting the mercury amalgams removed from your teeth, then having proper testing followed by chelation of heavy metals until you are clear by test (DMPS Challenge Test) and (2) hidden chronic infections (usually gut wall and cavitations in the jaws).
