Hyperthyroidism?

I've been having a variety of symptoms, some of which seem to go more with hypo rather than hyperthyroidism, but my rheumatoid factor was over 800 and I haven't any arthritis symptoms. I do often have flu type achiness with the fatigue. Instead of increased appetite, it has rather decreased. I'm having difficulty in losing wieght. I went in for fatigue and the feeling of swollen sore glands in my neck, and frequent sore throats. The neck pain is severe enough to wake me up at night, which is why I'm up now. I have difficulty swallowing, with food often getting caught in my throat. Nausea has often been a problem and headaches. An ultrasound of the thyroid was negative, and I'm awaiting results of a thyroid scan. I was wondering if you are familiar with this combination of symptoms, and what it might signify?

Hyperthyroidism can cause a great variety of bizarre symptoms. It is possible, though unlikely, to have two serious unrelated conditions at one time. If you have hyperthyroidism perhaps it would be best to get that handled, then see if anything is left over. Hashimoto's thyroiditis should be considered as it can make a person alternately hypothyroid and hyperthyroid.
