How do I prevent recession of my gums?

Are there any natural products that can help promote healthy gums? My gums are receeding in some spots and this concerns me. My dentist isn't too concerned but will refer me to a peridontist. Are there ways of restoring these gums?

The "pockets" are the spaces between the teeth and gums. If they are deeper than 3 mm they should be "deep cleaned" and rechecked every six months. Frequent brushing with a medium toothbrush - rotational up and down, not back and forth, angulating the brush into the pockets. Even better is the Sonicare toothbrush which massages the gums with a vibrating action. Also important is regular thorough flossing, applying tea tree oil to gums after brushing, Co-Q 10 60 mg. (an oral supplement) twice daily. The presence of dental amalgam ("gold" or "silver") favors recession due to direct metal toxicity effects on the gums. They can be replaced with non-metallic substitutes (porcelain or composite). All these measures together seem to stop gum recession in almost every case. Recession can lead to early loss of teeth. If your dentist is unconcerned, replace that person with a biological dentist (someone who would not ever use metal in a human being).
