Any ideas on what to check into for hair loss? 48 yr old female. Tests have been done: free thyroxine, tsh, cbc, ana, estrogen, progesterone - all came out normal. Dermatologist suggested using Rogaine which I did, but it's been abour 4-1/2 months and no sign of hair growing back. It just started to thin out, especially on top - lost a noticeable amount in about a 2-3 week time span and it doesn't look like it's coming back.

Check for Free T3 (a thyroid hormone), IGF-1 (a reflection of growth hormone); consider vitamin, mineral, and essential fatty acid deficiency. Genetics can play a role: mother and/or grandmother experience the same problem?
