Hypothyroid? Treatment Reaction

I am 60. Just treated for severe prostatitis. Then TSH measured 5.65, rechecked 3 wks later at 5.63. Also minor fatigue and tend be cold. Prescribed 25 mcg Levothroid one a day, empty stomach, before breakfast. Began increasingly restless sleep 'til third night. On third night awoke at 2am, panic, pounding heart (pulse 44, normal low 54), warm, extreme agitation, unable to return to bed 'til 430. Stopped medication. Hyperactive next two days. Got lots of work done around the house!

Doctor agreed to stop medication. Will retest in 2 months for T4 Free, TSH, and Thyroid Peroxidase.

I believe I became Hyperthyroid. Am I really hypothyroid? What's likely happening to me, and will these tests tell the story?

I agree, you sound(ed) hyperthyroid. I prefer the Free T3 as an almost perfect test. T3 is the active form. T4 is mainly for storage.
