by Ron Kennedy, M.D., Santa Rosa, CA

Dr. Kennedy Your mother always told you this one. Mothers are gullible to food propaganda, as we all have been, and besides, it was much more convenient for her if you ate your meals at three regular times each day. Believe it or not, your body, in the absence of food addiction, knows better than your mother about when you should eat and when not. However, beware of hunger, if it is specific for an addictive substance. If you are "hungry" but only for sugar containing foods, beware — you are not really hungry but rather in a state of addictive craving. Eat only when you are hungry!
