Dr. Kennedy Health and longevity are not the areas of specialty for many people, however when you have a life threatening condition, such as coronary artery disease, it had better become an area of your expertise right away. For that reason, I believe, the item which determines long term survival more than any other is development of the mind.

Because life, at least as we know it at this time, is itself a terminal illness, this principle applies to everyone. If you are not developing your store of knowledge about what makes for health and longevity, your life will probably be cut short. For example, did you know that merely taking one gram of vitamin C daily can cut your risk of ever developing cardiovascular disease in half? If you don't read and find out such tidbits of knowledge, you will have no chance to act on them because you will be unaware of them.

I read epidemiological studies almost every day. I have a very good idea of the nutrients and lifestyle which lead to health and longevity. I could interview you and write a program out for you which would extend you life and increase your vitality. However, if you do not understand, at a deep level of knowledge, where this program came from and where it is going, you will not follow it. In order to be a good doctor, one must return to the original meaning of the Latin derivative docere, "to teach." From the patient's point of view, he must become a good learner, for his life depends on it.
