Contralateral and Ipsilateral Print E-mail

Dr. Kennedy Contralateral means on the other side. The contralateral breast is the breast on the other side. A stroke affecting the right side of the brain may cause contralateral paralysis, affecting the left arm and leg. The opposite of contralateral is ipsilateral which refers to the same side.
